Every year, around September, we at Ultimate turn our attention to the festive season, and our Design team spend time creating the Ultimate Christmas gift: the perfect ‘Thank you!’ to all of our partners and clients. Over the years, we’ve had some great fun creating different designs and products to show our appreciation for their support.

At the end of 2019, there was a keen appetite for our Christmas campaign to have a healthy and productive theme, as well as tying in with our company strategy for a better Ultimate, otherwise known as The Ultiverse. We decided to take a slightly different approach both in the run-up to Christmas, and beyond! With a new decade approaching, Christmas felt like an opportunity to make some significant changes to our mindset, and how we do things.

A new year always signifies a new beginning - a new you and a fresh start, full of opportunity, positivity and possibility. Here at Ultimate, it’s January and we’re feeling inspired…it’s a new decade, bringing with it new challenges and new opportunities.

So, this year, inspired by our ethos ‘Enjoy life. Do great work’ we’ve turned our focus away from material goods, as much as we can: and we started at Christmas! You all know the kind of thing we mean: Christmas gifts which are lovely in the moment and then get relegated to the junk drawer a few months down the line; or corporate presents which can require lots of non-recyclable wrapping and single-use plastics (less than ideal!)

Instead, we decided that we want to use our time to effect a real change for Ultimate, our people, and our planet- and anybody else we can help along the way. Over the next 12 months, we’ll be channeling our energies into making a difference. Using January to get us started, we’re underway with green initiatives, eating-clean initiatives; charity drives, fitness days, and much more.

Though we’ve started the year with a BANG, this won’t just be one of those New Year’s Resolutions that stays in January... Instead, we’re just starting as we mean to go on. That’s right, we’re kick-starting the 2020’s with small acts that we know will make a huge difference to our people, as well as our planet. For us, 2019 signified the end of physical Christmas gifts, and instead gave us the opportunity to make the biggest difference, the best way we can.

2019 was a big one for ‘going green’, and we want to carry that momentum forward this year. For instance, we’ve all seen the impact that Extinction Rebellion has had on our city streets, and Greta Thunberg has made everyone sit up and listen. We’re more aware than ever that we must take action. As a leading agency, we at Ultimate want to play our part. And that’s why, this year, we’re all about mindset.

We know that we have a responsibility to use any platform we can for good, and the timing has never been so crucial. To act now, for the future.

It’s all about the impact we can have, and that’s something as a business we are truly passionate about. We do so much with our clients in terms of defining and advertising their eco-promises and brand responsibility, and now we felt the time was right to look at our own company values. We want to see how we can better the good work we already do: to consider the things we’re already doing, and thinking about how we can do more.

We’re really proud of everything we have achieved over the last decade, big and small. Everything counts towards our Ultimate quest: to be the best, not the biggest. We’re looking out for our people and planet in equal measure. Taking care of one another - because it matters. We’re all in this together.

We know that small changes can make a huge difference, and we hope that you’ll join us on our 2020 journey, each small step at a time.
