Hi, my name is Abi and I am an Economics student at Lancaster University. My course is 4 years with a placement year in the third year. To gauge an idea of industries that I would be interested in applying to for third year, I wanted to gain some work experience in the digital marketing industry  this summer.

During my week here, I worked with the digital marketing team and assisted them with several tasks. This included completing end of month reports, uploading blogs to websites and analysing the demographics of ad campaigns. I quickly settled in as everyone in the office was very friendly and made me feel at home straight away. I was launched into the fast-paced environment on the first day, invited to sit in on a client workshop to observe and learn how the relationship between Ultimate and their clients begins. It was fascinating to see how Ultimate starts its process of building amazing websites for its clients!

Copywriting Workshop

Working with the digital marketing team reminded me of how important teamwork and communication is. At university, many of the assignments are individual so it’s easy to forget how vital it is to have a transparent relationship with the team. Despite me only being there for a week, I became a full member of the digital marketing team and learned how to implement digital marketing strategies.

Having started the week with very little experience in digital marketing, I am really pleased at how much I have managed to learn within a week of being here. Thank you for giving me the chance to experience a week in the life of a digital marketer, even if it did mean breaking the stereotypical student habit of sleeping in!
