We are incredibly excited and proud to announce that Ultimate has been shortlisted for the 2018 Northern Digital Awards for ‘The Lanterns at Chester Zoo’. Nominated in the ‘Best Use of Video’ category for our collaboration with Lion Eye Studio, we are utterly thrilled to see our work being recognised in this way.
The aim of our creative work for ‘The Lanterns’ campaign was to inspire a sense of awe and wonder in the audience. As an annual event, this magical festive extravaganza has been a hit for Chester Zoo time and time again but this year we wanted to add an extra pinch of magic to proceedings. With lanterns and performances provided by the widely-acclaimed events company Wild Rumpus, we knew our campaign needed to be extra special.
As with all our Chester Zoo creative campaigns, we were keen to ensure that the animals remained at the heart of everything. This year, the focus of ‘The Lanterns’ trail is about imagining what all the Zoo’s animals might wish for this Christmas. Obviously, the animals cannot do that themselves, so the audience will be encouraged to think carefully about what gifts could make a positive impact on each animal’s life. It is a subtle way of raising serious conservation issues within a lighter, more festive atmosphere.
Within our video, a letter travels between a series of animals which Chester Zoo have chosen to highlight within this campaign. These animals and their needs have subsequently been reflected within the stunning ‘The Lanterns’ trail, culminating in a visit to Santa’s Sorting Office.
The winners of the Northern Digital Awards 2018 will be announced at a ceremony in Leeds on Wednesday October 31st 2018. We’ll keep you posted!
